Douglas E. Noll, J.D., M.A. helps people solve complex and intractable problems and teaches others to do what he does. As a lawyer turned peacemaker, Doug has been voted as one of the Best Lawyers in America since 2005 and has been recognized since 2006 as a Northern California Super Lawyer. Doug was named California Attorney of the Year in 2012 for his innovative peacemaking work in California prisons. He has been honored as Lawyer of the Year in 2014 by Best Lawyers in America. In 2014, Doug was honored as a Purpose Prize Fellow by Encore.org. Doug teaches graduate courses in decision-making and the psychology of conflict at the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine School of Law. His latest book, De-Escalate: How to Calm an Angry Person in 90 Seconds or Less, is a Book Excellence award winner. Douglas is an award-winning author, speaker, teacher, and mediator. Doug works in maximum security prisons training murderers to be peacemakers and, at the other extreme, works with the Congressional Budget Office, training senior analysts how to de-escalate members of Congress. He has been honored as California Lawyer of the Year and a Purpose Prize Fellow for his Prison work.
